Performed truck brokerage negotiations and 24 hour emergency on-call service.

Asst. Manager, Transportation Services 1989 – 1990.  Managed regional office and field personnel providing railroad transportation services. Administered multi-million dollar operating budget. Scope of responsibility encompassed productivity, training, and safety programs. Jointly responsible for facilities and equipment with a combined valuation of more than fifty million dollars. Conducted annual performance reviews of subordinate supervisors. Maintained excellent working relationship with counter-parts and customers across the United States. 

Asst. Trainmaster/Manager of Safety 1988 – 1989.  Staff position supervising all facets of industrial safety encompassing all company properties in California. Inspected facilities, assisted with derailments, and performed accident investigations. Conducted departmental and public safety education programs. Directed train crews on proper methods of train assembly to assure safe operation over mountains. Monitored safe operation of passenger trains on the west coast.

Chief Clerk, Regional Freight Office 1982 – 1987.  Supervised regional freight office and piggy back ramp operations. Successfully maintained key relationships with community leaders and industry contacts. Developed and implemented new computerized methods for equipment inventory control. Served on public safety committees with Department of Transportation, California Highway Patrol, and California Office of Traffic Safety. Went on an Operation Lifesaver whistle-stop tour with Michael Gross (Family Ties), and performed my original song, "Any Time Is Train Time".

Computer Console Operator, IBM 370 (Mainframe) 1975 – 1982.  Responsible for the operation of information systems for a critical west coast freight classification yard. Evaluated computer service interruptions and made corrective program updates. Provided ongoing technical support to terminal operators. Worked closely with IBM technical engineers to assure optimum productivity. Skilled experience in several database management systems and information processing environments. 

Construction Engineering Clerk 1973 - 1975.  Maintained payroll and timekeeping records for 300 construction and maintenance employees. Processed employment applications and conducted preliminary employment interviews. Procured materials and equipment for a major railroad construction project. Handled human resources function pertaining to manpower requirements, physical certification, employee qualifications, and payroll documentation.

Control Tower Operator 1972 – 1973.  Directly responsible for the safe and efficient movement of trains through the city of San Bernardino, CA. Developed top skills in priority planning, radio/telephone/telegraph communications, and emergency procedures. Handled the delivery of train orders and controlled switches and signals. Acquired in-depth working knowledge of railroad general code of operating rules.
